Single Phase Transformer In the Pilot Assist Ladder Lifting Control Box

No.CXB-250VA TH
The transformer inside the control box of the marine pilot ladder is a key electrical component that provides safe, stable, and adaptable power for the pilot ladder retraction control system. It is usually a small capacity marine dry-type isolation (control) transformer.

Description

Core Function

1. Voltage Conversion and Adaptation
Convert the voltage of the ship's main power grid (commonly AC 440V/60Hz or 380V/50Hz) into relays, contactors PLC、 The safe voltage required for low-voltage control components such as indicator lights (such as AC 220V, 110V, 24V, or DC 24V).

2. Electrical Isolation
As an isolation transformer, completely isolate the control circuit from the main power grid in electrical terms. This can effectively prevent surges and harmonic interference from the main power grid from entering the precision control circuit, and significantly reduce the risk of the control box casing being electrified due to line faults, ensuring the safety of operators.

3. Stable Control Power Supply
To provide a pure and stable working power supply for the control system, ensuring accurate and reliable actions such as start stop, braking, and limit signal detection of the pilot ladder lifting motor.

Safety Principles

Physical Isolation
There is only a magnetic circuit (through the iron core) coupling between the primary (high voltage side) and secondary (low voltage control side) windings, without direct electrical connection.

Cut Off the Dangerous Path
• When the main power grid experiences abnormal high voltage due to faults (such as insulation damage), this high voltage cannot be directly transmitted to the low-voltage control circuit.
• Similarly, faults on the control circuit side will not be directly fed back to the main power grid.

Create a Safe Zone
The low-voltage circuit output from the secondary side of the transformer forms a "safety island" that is electrically isolated from the ship's high-voltage main power grid. When operators come into contact with control buttons, relays, and PLCs, the risk of electric shock is greatly reduced.

Work Processes

Ship high-voltage main power → control box circuit breaker → single-phase control transformer (for electromagnetic conversion and isolation) → output pure low-voltage electricity → supply power to all control components such as PLC, contactor coils, indicator lights, limit switches, etc. → safely and reliably control motor lifting.

Core Value

Safety: Protect personnel and precision control equipment from the impact of main grid faults through electrical isolation.
Stability: Provide a pure power source for the control system that is not affected by fluctuations and disturbances in the main power grid.
Adaptation: Convert the ship's power supply voltage to the standard operating voltage of the control components.
